Motorized Vehicles are PROHIBITED on Parks and Trails
The Dallas Park and Recreation Department has recently seen an increase in the use of motorized scooters and electric bicycles within the City of Dallas.
The Department would like to remind the public that the use of any motorized vehicles on parks and trails is prohibited per City of Dallas Code Section 32-8. The City Code states “A person commits an offense if, in any park or recreation area in the city, he knowingly: (1) drives a motor vehicle; or (2) stops, stands, or parks a motor vehicle.”
A park or recreation area is defined as a park, recreational facility, athletic field, building, swimming pool, playground, nature preserve, trail, dock, or greenbelt in the City of Dallas.
Exceptions to this rule are motorized wheelchairs for ADA accessibility.
