A malfunction in a spray rig at the Stevens Park golf course resulted in the unintentional release of 50 gallons of a mixture of water and blue dye used to color greens during the winter months into a nearby creek. The spill was promptly reported to the City of Dallas Office of Environmental Quality and Dallas Water Utilities. After initial water tests, both departments have confirmed there is no immediate environmental threat to the creek or surrounding area. While the creek water is visibly blue, there is no risk to public health, individuals, or the local drinking water supply. To ensure ongoing safety, the City of Dallas will continue routine water testing. Committed to protecting the environment, Dallas Park and Recreation will continue to monitor the situation and update the community on DallasParks.org.
