When the recreation center was built in 1982 it was called Ridgewood Recreation Center for the neighborhood it was in. The center’s dedication was held on March 28, 1982. In November of 1995 the recreation center was renamed to Ridgewood-Belcher in honor of Virginia Belcher a former member of the Dallas Park Board. This recreation center is located near White Rock Lake just off Northwest Highway and Fisher Rd.
